How did you get started on your fitness journey?
When I was in the Navy, I surrounded myself with other motivating people who wanted to better their fitness.
What are some of the challenges with training around your schedule?
At the station you could get a call mid workout but we just pick up where we left off when we get back. Also we could be running calls all night so that could affect how we train the next day.
How does fitness play a role in your day to day life?
Fitness is VERY important especially for my job. You need to have the work capacity to do what we do and be able to function afterwards, staying ready for the next call. Another is to keep up with my very fit wife Kasey who loves training together in the garage along with staying active with our son Maverick.
Describe your ideal training space:
Sometimes you get transferred to work at other stations that unfortunately do not have the equipment like our station to train. So I remember doing thrusters with my air pack and dragging a section of large hose for my workout.
What would you tell others who aspire to be a better athlete?
I would first say to find your motivation. What drives you to get into the gym? Next, I would chase the atmosphere! If you have a place where your significant other, or your friends are training at then join in and climb the mountain together!
